Dating back to 1889, Pine Inn offers period-style accommodations that reflect its historic charm, featuring antique furnishings and a classic decor. Guests can expect rooms that are comfortable yet compact, some with ocean views, complemented by amenities such as free Wi-Fi, room service, and air conditioning. An on-site Italian restaurant and bakery provides a convenient dining option with scenic ocean views.

Located at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Street, this refined hotel sits in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s downtown, surrounded by quaint shops, galleries, and local attractions. This place does not look like much from the outside, but boy is a fancy on the inside! It was the fanciest hotel in town 100 years ago, and they kept it exactly the way it was 100 years ago. The furniture is all authentic and antique, and the rooms are in thAt period decor. I was there in early August and temperature in Carmel was 60° F. I know someone else complained about not having a/c, but he really don't need it along the coast. For less than $300 a night, it's a bargain! If you want to step back into time 100 years, spend the night at this place. It is also attached to Il Fornaio restaurant which makes it really convenient to have a great Italian meal.

Overall this is a wonderful cute boutique hotel with excellent customer service and complimentary guest parking. It's located in the heart of the shopping area and also a short walk to the beach. The rooms are very small, maybe 350sqft, but the beds are super comfy. The shower/tub is a bit outdated, but stronger water pressure and lots of hot water! The cafe next to the lobby actually has really good coffee! I would definitely stay here again, especially for a weekend getaway!

We've stayed here a couple of times and was very pleased. We especially enjoyed the ground level room that opened off the big porch that also leads to the restaurant. The charm began a the Dutch-style door as we entered. Location is excellent-town center. If we make it to Carmel again, we will seek out the Pine Inn for lodging.

My wife and I stayed at the Pine Inn last weekend and had a wonderful time. It was a special day and place because it was our 40th wedding anniversary, and 42 years ago we became engaged here. The hotel retains all the charm it had way back when - fireplaces galore, overstuffed red velvet chairs in a clubby environment, and the most perfect staff one could ask for. The hotel is right on Ocean avenue in the middle of town which is convenient as Carmel is a walking town. The town was fairly boisterous on this particular Saturday, but quieted down to absolute silence about 9:00 PM. Funny - there were a zillion teenagers in town that day. Why would teens flock to a staid village like Carmel? Anyway, they were no trouble and quieted down later. Back in our room after dinner we opened the window and listened to the surf crashing on the nearby shore. This was a fine way to end the day.

Stayed this weekend, very charming Inn, right smack in the middle of everything, free parking included (however lot is small) but the provide info on near by free parking. If you have mobility issues please know this Inn is 3 stories with no elevator, they do have a bell boy that can assist with luggage. Our room was a lil tiny with the chairs, king size bed and dresser. The bathroom area was decent with a closet. We had a partial room of the ocean. I wish that was actually listed when booking the room. My pet peve was how bad the tiolet paper was, 1 ply, and how the shampoo and conditioner were not the same brand.

There's plenty of room for improvement in the decor and just needed updates. However, there is historical value in the keeping of things as quaint as they are. We had champagne waiting for us in our room one night, which was very thoughtful since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Everything was tidy and in working order. Location, location, location! We had an ocean view and watched the sunset over the ocean from the comfort of our warm room in our pajamas with a glass of champagne. We could easily walk to the beach if we chose so the location is not easily matched. This alone would deserve 5 stars. However, the dated interior and the restaurant on site don't help. The restaurant on site is not the most unique. The red sauce on the pasta lacks depth, which is a shame because they make the pasta fresh. The least they could do is pair it with an incredible sauce. Wine selection is not bad, but the beer on tap was stale/flat. Still, service is timely, kind, attentive, and courteous. The seafood was fresh, the cauliflower flavorful, the chicken moist, and the gravy delish! The hotel and ambiance are right on par with the 3.5-4 star rating.

Rooms are very tight and the bathroom extremely small. The hotel itself is very nice, convenient to everything and parking is wonderful. Staff was accommodating, but very expensive and a bit noisy.

A historic hotel in the heart of Carmel. The rooms were very plush and conveniently located to walk out to the shops of Carmel. Very much appreciated the reserved parking.
